tutorial on how to draw basic figures from scratch (how to build them up and how to shade them to give depth), using a cube as an example.
I will be honest, the cube reference I used, I've no idea whether I'm even allowed to put it in this tutorial. I checked the page of the site I found it on, it says you have to use some sort of credits to buy it, but I kinda only wanted to use it as a ref. I put it in here to make it clear how I work with refs. but I'm guessing since I used it in a work, that means it's actually not allowed. I didn't see any terms of use though, not even the name of the photographer
stupid thing is, not only is it surprisingly difficult to find a good ref of a cube, I drew everything for this tutorial before checking if I could use it
the only reason I uploaded this, is because I'm on a schedule for #Art-Union - I made this tut for the first assignment, which is going to be announced today.
however, I'm going to try and find another reference and replace/redo the tutorial with that one. (here's hoping I can find a ref that looks more or less the same as the one I used, because otherwise I'm going to have to change the text as well.... )
myeah..
OR!! I just came up with a better idea. I can just join the site and pay for it I hope it's not too expensive. lol but that would save me a whole lot of time. idk how to earn credits though. either way this tutorial will be updated soon hopefully
[update: yeah I'll pay for it. is gonna take me a week though so yeah if the owner of this image reads this, I will pay for it, but I've to wait for the money to be transacted to paypal]
btw this is what I meant with a set triangle [link]
used lettertypes: - sakkal majalla - freestyle script - AR destine - brush script mt - chiller
also, yes, I know that the cube I drew based on the ref isn't exactly the same. try not to look at that, I didn't really try too hard
well I hope this tutorial is helpful and not confusing or anything!
well I don't think it's possible to draw a straight line freehand, so a ruler is the only solution. I would suggest buying a set triangle, cuz then you can get both straight lines and parallel lines easily it's a very helpful tool!
